Project: Improving the detection of exoplanet transits using machine learning
About Allison Shaver
Exoplanet discoveries via the transit method rely on searching vast amounts of data for tiny dips in a star's brightness. Machine learning models are most efficient but require training, as in this work, to improve detection of potential transits. This project’s significance stems from the fact that it works with long period exoplanets and improving their detection, saving time and resources while allowing for a higher accuracy when discovering possible planet candidates.”
