Project: Has there been a rise in cases of Ophidiomycosis in Southwestern snake species over the last 20 years?
About Hannah Bradley
My research focuses on looking into possible cases of Ophidiomycosis (Snake Fungal Disease) in 5 different snake species from the Southwestern United States collected over the last 20 years. I will be examining specimens stored within the Museum of Southwestern Biology at UNM and utilizing qPCR to attempt to diagnose Ophidiomycosis. Additionally, I will be looking into possible correlations with regional temperature changes. My goal is to add to the research that is being done so that we may better understand this detrimental fungal pathogen.
