About Abrianna Morales

As a student at UNM, Abrianna was taught about the value of community and was able to apply this to her experiences as a Truman Scholar, McNair Scholar, and ASSURE Fellow. In her words, "When it comes to making a difference, it's working together--across disciplines, generations, and ideas--that makes our work impactful."

After graduating in the spring of 2023, Abrianna went on to work with the National Organization for Victim Assistance (NOVA) to launch a new Victim Advocacy Corps. The Victim Advocacy Corps, developed in partnership with college campuses, researchers, and youth survivor-advocates, aims to elevate the next generation of youth leaders in victim services. By providing students with specialized victim advocacy training, credentialing, mentorship, and a paid field-placement, they are able to celebrate youth voices in victim advocacy and introduce students to a multitude of service-oriented career pathways.

For Abrianna, whether she is working with students, faculty members, community advocates, or researchers, she feels that her time at UNM has given her the skills and mindset required to develop a new Victim Advocacy Corps, to build community, and to make a difference.
