as-oor.jpgThe College of Arts & Sciences has announced that applications are now open for the Fall 2023 cohort of the Arts & Sciences Support for Undergraduate Research Experiences (ASSURE) program. Established in 2021, ASSURE is a unique research opportunity that fosters research collaborations between students and faculty across the 24 departments and schools in the College.

As a Carnegie-designated Research One (R1) institution, programs such as ASSURE support the high activity research efforts at The University by providing undergraduates with experiences that will help them build connections with some of the strongest leaders in their fields.

Since its launch, 88 undergraduate researchers have had the opportunity to benefit from the ASSURE program, and one of these students was recently announced as a Goldwater Fellow.

Students applying are required to have a declared pre-major or major from the College as well as a faculty mentor from one of the College’s departments and schools. ASSURE provides a stipend of $1600 per semester and every Fellow will have the opportunity to present their work at the Undergraduate Research Opportunity Conference (UROC) in Spring 2024.

Applications are due on May 5th, 2023. Questions can be directed to frso4cas@unm.edu and more information is available on the College’s research website.
