The University of New Mexico hosts the 25th annual American Indian Studies Association (AISA) Conference on Feb. 1 and 2. This conference is not only a celebration of Indigenous culture and history, but an imperative recognition of ongoing research and community.

“This conference is well known, particularly for its community focus. AISA is a community who cares for one another and supports advancing research to support Native Americancommunities, people, and students,” Native American Studies Department Chair Tiffany Lee said.

UNM’s Native American Studies department and Institute for American Indian Research have played a direct role in the planning and execution of this conference.  This is also thanks to the Henry Luce Foundation, along with several UNM department co-sponsors.
